Well I am picking up where I left off. I am continuing on with lady Leksak but now that I’m into the body section which is stockinette for the number of inches for length I want, it can maybe get repetitive. So while looking for something, I found a bag with one completed sock and a second sock of toe up into foot section. So I have located it, in knit companion, of the project. So I know the pattern and sort of where I was at. Unfortunately I did not realize how long ago I was working on this… are you ready… 3 yrs. OMG. They were for my granddaughter. Thank you for this site because I could go back through questions I had posed at that time so I have more insight into what I was doing, particularly the picot edge bindoff. During this time I have learned to put more explanations into the notes section, but not then, so this site was a big help. So with trepidation I had my granddaughter try on the completed sock & it fits perfectly now… I was concerned then that too big. So I have to get busy & finish this second sock. So the big question… I asked my granddaughter, who just turned 12 last week, if she would wear them & she said, yes, which for this age is a major accomplishment. So I need to get busy before she grows more or changes her mind!!

So glad you went back to these socks. They’re lovely and the picot edge is the perfect finishing touch.
I think you’re giving me too much credit. It took me awhile to figure it out for the most part. It has helped that I use knit companion for projects and keeps track of rows. But I’ve learned from past experience to be very specific in the notes section, so if it does get set aside for awhile, the different counters are easily identified. We never know, usually, when you set your knitting down that there might a time lapse when picked back up, like 3 yrs. But in this case I think I can get close enough that it won’t be noticeable. Also in this case the pattern has video tutorials that I can watch again to refresh my memory.
I’m starting the heel. I’ve made it a little bigger. After looking at the sock on her foot it really borders on being too small. I’ve plenty of this yarn so I’m seriously considering just making another sock that’s matching the one I’m working on now, size wise. I’ll just consider the first one, practice.
Sometimes you just need to consider sock one as a practice for the pair. I’m helping a friend with her first sock from a sock class. It’s clearly going to be too small but she’s learning all the component parts and will be ready for the next pair. Good luck with these socks!
I finished the long awaited second sock. Turned out well. My granddaughter said it felt “soft & comfy”. So I was anxious to start first sock over. Wow, I never thought I would get it. You would never guess this was the third time I was doing this toe. It’s like I had never seen this before. Guess there was no ingrained muscle memory. I decided maybe I was too tired last night but this morning I just couldn’t seem to get past first several rounds. Don’t know how many times I started over (lots). Just didn’t look or feel right. But finally something clicked. I also think the yarn didn’t help. Have to be very careful because it easily splits and if you don’t pick up all strands it is impossible to continue. I am fixing to start the foot. Should be smooth sailing since I made lots of notes from most recent sock I did.

Well I was cruising through these socks. I was checking my stitches periodically (count wise) and I had the correct stitches on the needles. But then I started looking at the knitting between the needles and saw a problem. Somehow I had dropped a stitch about 10 rounds down. So I undid knitting to catch that stitch down there. But there was so much extra yarn that I undo about 5 stitches down there to that point. Anyway using stitch holders to lock stitches I worked my way back up. It’s a little looser than rest of knitting but I think it will even out when blocked. But at least I didn’t freak out and rip out those entire rows. I think it will become less noticeable. Actually kind of proud of myself. To be honest I think my progress in being able to read my knitting has been one of the biggest improvements I have made and has helped me immensely
It’s a good feeling having successfully fixed something.
You can probably redistribute some of the yarn from the enlarged stitches across to the left and into the smaller stitches. Sometimes i do that before moving on, sometimes i do a bit of redistribution at the end.
So disappointing to find a dropped stitch but you solved the problem nicely. Yes, washing is going to help this even out again. You are becoming a sock master!
