Tinking 3 st button hold

Hi all,

Anybody got any advice for tinking a 3st buttonhole ?

I’ve accidentally patterned 1 too many stitches between my button holes and now need to tink back to fix it.

My button hole pattern is:
(Mati Vetrillon Fisherman Jumper)

"With the yarn at the front of your work, slip the next stitch purlwise, then take the yarn to the back of the work between your needles.

*Slip 1 stitch purlwise. Pass the first slipped stitch over the new slipped stitch and off the right needle; repeat from * once more. Pass the remaining slipped stitch purlwise back to the left needle and turn, so that the WS of the work is facing you.

Now, using the cable method, cast on 2 stitches. Then cast on 1 more stitch but leave it on the right needle, bring the yarn to the front of the work and slip the final cast-on stitch onto the left needle and turn, so that the right side of the work is facing you.

Slip the next stitch knitiwse, and slip the last cast-on at over it and off the right needle. Your buttonhole is complete!"

If I don’t tink the button -hole and leave it as it is, Is it going to make a huge difference that I’m 1 stitch short? Surely the button won’t be that misaligned by 1 stitch?

Many thanks,
Seb

One stitch? Not a problem. You could leave it unless you’re working on very chunky, jumbo yarn. No one will notice.
If you do decide to take the buttonhole out, just remove the needles from the involved sts and carefully undo sts and slipped sts. It’s more teasing out the yarn strand than tinking.
This is a very neat buttonhole.

I decided to go back - had to mess the pattern around a bit to release some of the yarn front reinforcement but I think I’ve picked the stitches up back to the correct pattern now! Thanks for the help
