Oh no.
You must have all sent tons of positive thought and wishes because i got a loan through the government and my mom to get a new computer! I’m on it now and I like it alot so far! I’m so glad I’m back!
:cheering:That’s great! A college student can’t be w/o a computer anymore. What kind of computer did you get?
It’s an HP and that is about all I understand about it except is has a core 2 duo processor! it makes my games run right! yay! and the net is much faster and my screen is like 15 inches! WOOT! all together with a one year replacement plan it cost 1009.00 lol, not bad. it was on sale! I’m even getting homework done because i’m excieted to work on it! lol
Congratulations on the new computer! :cheering:
Sounds good! :yay:
Well, It’s Monday. I’ve had one class (practicum) and I have two more later. Right now I SHOULD be doing homework but, well, yeah right.
On Wednesday I go into a middle school classroom for the first time ever since I was the actual student. I don’t plan on teaching middle school but my license will cover it so we have to do some participation in it. I’ll be there every day for the first two periods for the next four weeks. yikes! I’m scared and nervous and excited all at the same time. My cooperating teacher is a guy and that makes me a little more nervous. I don’t know anything about him and I’m just a little worried. I don’t want anything to be weird and I really don’t want my DBF to think it’s weird or anything. ugh. It’s going to be complicated there. anyway, throughout this participation I will be sort of like an aid. I may spend time helping students who are behind or encouraging students who are ahead. I am required to actually teach for a total of 80 minutes. That can be fit in however it works out. I will have to have those lesson plans approved and they will be handed in at the end of the month along with a rubric assessing my work over those four weeks. I have to do one too. That is what my grade is based on!
Other than that, not too much is going on. I LOVE my new compy. I haven’t decided if it is a girl or a boy yet. It works so smoothly and is so customizable I can hardly believe the changes in lap tops in the last 4 years. there is this program called Onenote. If you are a student or anyone that takes notes, organizes thing, makes lists, whatever, you should check it out! I love it! It’s going to save my life lol
I got a C on my paper for Queer lit. I’m a little irritated by it because we only had three pages to research a topic and write an argument about it. My teacher basically said I didn’t do enough research and didn’t make enough points. the problem here is I could have talked forever about LGBT adoption and the numbers of children that go unadopted and the fact that there is no proof that you can “make” someone gay but I only had THREE pages! Oh well.
Unfortunately that puts my grade at somewhere around the high C low B area because very little is graded in this class. two papers, participation, and two short tba assignments that our guest professor will assign. bleh.
I have an ethical problem right now. {the following names have been changed to protect everyone}
Jules is a friend of mine. She has two children. Mallory is about to turn 14 and her brother Jake is about to be 10. Mallory has a bf now and was caught by her dad, Brad, sitting on the couch under a blanket when Jules wasn’t home. Oh, it’s important to know that Jules and Brad are divorced and Brad live a half hour away. Brad ran the kid off but he knows, from jake, that this sort of thing happens all the time but Jake doesn’t want Mallory to find out he told and so he can’t tell their mom, Jules.
Anyway, to shorten the story, Mallory and Jake are my BF’s cousins. He loves them like his own children. Brad asked my DBF to do what he could to protect Mallory. We have a key to Jules house for emergencies. Is it fair of us to come into the house when we know Jules will be gone to catch them doing this? If so, should we approach Jules first? Brad has talked to her and she responds with “mallory is a good girl I trust her.” This seems silly and deliberately oblivious to me. DBF is furious, especially since I reminded him that at 13 you can get pregnant and she has started her period already. He wants to charge in and shake this child until he is so scared he can barely get out of the house, let alone ever come back. What can we do? What should we do? What is ethical aand right? Is it more important to protect Mallory than to fear upsetting Jules? especially when we have been given permission of Brad all ready? What would you do? How would you feel if it was your daughter? or your son (the boy, not Jake).
Any response to this will be very helpful. I’m so confused and worried for Mallory. The boy is from another culture entirely and in their family it is common for them all to bathe naked and to speak of sex at any age and he is just much less naieve than Mallory. I’m so scared for her.
I’m a little confused over who’s who, but it doesn’t really matter. I really don’t think that scaring the kid off is going to do anything. They will just find another place to do whatever it is they are doing. They both need to be sat down and explained the consequences of their actions. They’ve probably heard them before, but you do what you can. IMO the mother should take the girl to a doctor for a serious discussion about birth control, too.
So I have recently told you that I’m going to be in schools starting wednesday. I just recieved the dress code for students in this school. My advisor has told us we should follow this code until we understand what the teachers seem to be able to do. Ok here goes. navy, brown, or black slacks. No jeans of any type. Shirts, plain, solid colors, no form fitting, sleeves required, etc.
I don’t have very much dress clothes in the first place but I now have about 3 shirts I can wear and 3 pairs of pants. I have to be there 5 days a week, 2 hours a day, for the next 4 weeks. I don’t know what I will do. ugh. I really need to just buy some yarn and make a ton of shrugs to wear over really cheap tanks and shirts. ugh.
I’m pretty much freaking out. Not just about clothes. About everything. This class is pass/fail. If they don’t like me they can say I shouldn’t be a teacher and then my teacher can say, I can see that, and then they can kick me out of the major. I won’t be able to graduate and I won’t have any clue what to do.
My house is a shambles. My cat started coughing up hair balls. and freaking out. he learned how to jump in and out of the trash and how to climb up the backs of computer chairs. omg.
I have to go now. class is starting.
If you can go someplace like H&M and pick up several inexpensive blouses and shirts you can wear. My daughter got a lot of her work wardrobe there when she didn’t have much money. You could also try some place like Kohls. If you have any scarves they can also make an outfit look a little different.
What is H&M? They might not exist here.
It’s a clothing store.
I’m sure if they don’t have it you could even pick up some inexpensive, but fairly nice things at a store like Target.
yeah, that would be nice. We just don’t have ANY money right now. poor dbf has about 5 shirts that fit him. I have one pair of jeans with no rips and one bra with no broken straps/holes. ugh. It’s just going to be a very hard year. Once I get a job it will be all good. Hopefully someone in the fam will buy me a suit for job interviews and then I’ll be set. lol
I finished another hat. this one was spur of the moment. DBF’s cousin from an earlier post is turning 14 and she wanted one so I made it. I’ll post it later.
TGI (almost) F!
it’s bed time but I can’t go quite yet. oh well.
I’ve been there, my friend. In fact, I’m there right now!
I buy most of my clothes at thrift shops or Goodwill. I’ve found some very nice things there!
I have no idea what your Thrift shops are like but I guess the same as our Op Shops, ( short for Opportunity Shops) some wonderful finds are to be had if you just keep checking them out on a regular basis. The Charities are getting a bit more savvy now though and starting to recognise ‘good’ stuff and the prices are starting to go up a bit on some items. Cant complain though, it is for Charity!
Goodwill and thrift stores are my favorite places to shop. My girls even like shopping there more than regular stores. I’m thankful that they don’t ask for the expensive name brand stuff. Hang in there, things will get better.
Good grief! Daylilyized is putting messages to you all over the forum. Check your PM’s and respond her for heaven’s sake.
LOL, I didn’t see that. I haven’t been on hardly at all! I just jump in quick to ask a question. I’ll get back to her! lol
Thanks! :teehee:
ETA: She’s still trying to get hold of you.
Duessa, please check your PM’s immediately.
