Tension square for mitten

Hi there,

I am wanting to do a tension square for my colour-work mittens. How do I do this?

Welcome to the forum!
What is the name of your pattern? Are you knitting in the round or back and forth.
This tutorial is for a gauge swatch in the round that will work with colorwork as well:

In the round or back and forth, make sure to cast on enough sts to give you a large enough swatch to measure over the middle 2-4 inches.

Hi there!

I am taking an empty chart from Anne Bardsgard’s beautiful Selbu Mitten book. At the back of the book she has an empty chart for a woman’s mitten that she invites the reader to use to design their own mitten.

I was planning on knitting in the round using double pointed needles.

Thanks so much for sending this article! I shall enjoy reading it

Hi,

Thank you again for sending this article. I was just wondering if I could please ask one more question. I am slightly confused by this instruction, ‘I carry my yarn behind my work so that I am starting my row at the same end every time without ever turning my work.’ I just cannot visualize how I would do this. Please could you further describe what she means here or do you know of any good videos that might help?

You have an unlimited number of questions to ask here at KH. No problem.
