Hi there I have just done a tension test on 4 mm needles and 22 stitches 28 rows it is measuring 12 cm row wise and 12 3/4 accross it is supposed to measure 10 cm, now the instructions say if there is less sts to 10 cm than number stated change to a finer needle, if there are more sts to 10 cm than stated change to larger needles.

I am confused should you not do it the oppisit way?

If you have too many stitches per inch, then the stitches are too small and you would switch to a larger needle.

If you have too few stitches per inch, then the stitches are too large and you switch to a smaller needle.
