I’m not sure what you mean by turning over the pattern? Turning at the end of a row or changing from knits to purls or something else?
Are you thinking that the V or knit side is always RS and the purl bump side is a WS? That’s not correct. RS usually refers to the outer side or public side of something like a hat or a sweater. Think of this blanket as a sweater which has an inside and an outside. Mark the outside with a safety pin so that . like a sweater, you’ll always know how to put it on.
More importantly, Knitcindy’s advice is excellent. Ignore RS WS and just keep track careful of row number.
