Switching to double pointed needles

I am making a hat and using #13 circular needles. (Blue Sky alpaca bulky yarn) When I begin shaping the crown, and need to switch to dpns, should I use #10 1/2? I can’t find any larger than that size?

You might still be able to use the 13s. Push your stitches more toward the left needle, leave the right needle free and loop it, folding the hat in your left hand and start knitting with the right needle. This is sort of a half magic loop, though it might be difficult to work with. If you have longer size 13s, that would work even easier.

Or you could get a second size 13 circular, then split the work between the 2 needles, and just push the stitches to the end you’re working on, on each round.
