I have not knit for years but I’m working on a cardigan now. I’m on the back and working on the raglan armholes and now I’m stuck. The instructions state:
Next Row (RS): K1, sl 1, K1, psso, K to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1.
Working all raglan armhole decreases as set by last row, dec 1 st at each end of 4th and 1 foll 4th rows, then on every alt row until 38 sts rem, ending with WS facing next row.
Huh? I understand the Next Row but then the decrease stuff is totally confusing?? Can anyone shed some light? It would be so appreciated!
The pattern calls for you to do decreases every 4th row until you are left with 38 stitches on your needles.
Working all raglan armhole decreases as set by last row, dec 1 st at each end of 4th and 1 foll 4th rows, then on every alt row until 38 sts rem, ending with WS facing next row.
For ex:
K
P
K
P (dec…‘end of 4th’)
K
P
K
P (dec…‘1 foll 4th rows’)
K
P (dec…‘then on every alt row’)
K
P (dec) cont alt dec until 38 sts.

Hi Cam - do you mean that I should K1, sl 1, K1, psso, K to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1 on every knit row and then decrease at the end of the two 4th rows and then every other P rows (like you show)? Sorry, if I’m asking stupid questions, but it’s Greek to me. Thanks for your help!!!
The row you posted is the dec row so your patt must have a non-dec row, as well that’s worked between the dec rows.
K1, sl 1, K1, psso, K to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1 contains your decs (the psso and K2tog.)
You’d work 3 rows in patt (no dec) and THEN the dec row (which they want done on the RS)
P (or WS)
K (RS)
P
K (dec)
P
K
P
K (dec)
P
K (dec)
P
K (dec)
etc.
Does that make sense?

Yes, it finally makes sense. Thank you so much!!!
