Hi, I am hoping someone can help me!
I made my granddaughter the Mary Maxim Kids Cabled Jacket size 10. Well, it turned out beautifully, but, does not seem like it would fit her. Especially the sleeves, I don’t know what I did. Can I pick up and knit in 1x1 rib to lengthen them?
Welcome!
Maybe this one?
Yes, you should be able to extend the ribbing. I couldn’t tell for sure whether the sleeves were knit from shoulders to cuff or the reverse. If it’s shoulder down to cuff it’s easy to undo the bind off and even the ribbing to knit more of the sleeve pattern and then add ribbing.
If it’s knit from the cuff up, you can still pick up sts along the ribbing and work down. There may be a slight seam where the sts were picked up but not too noticeable.
The more complicated thing to do is this which has saved me several times.
How much longer do you need to extend the sleeve?
Thank you so much for answering me! I read these forums, but, have always been hesitant to join in, now, I am hooked in one day!
The sleeves are worked cuff up, I think I sewed the shoulder seams a bit too far. I’m thinking I can just add a cuff that can bee folded up if need be? Luckily I have a younger granddaughter also!
Yes, a folded up cuff is a good idea. I’m so glad you asked this question. The sweater is adorable.
