Surplus Yarns

Hello,

My wife has been an expert knitter for many years. Unfortunately, she has developed arthritis in her hands and can no longer knit. She has accumulated a very large variety of different yarns and patterns. Most are patterns and yarn packages that she intended to work on but never opened.

She would like to sell her yarns and patterns. I will take photos and provide descriptions of her yarn inventory. Can you suggest the best way to contact knitters that may be interested in purchasing the yarns?
Located in the Paris - Woodstock - Burford area

Thank you.

So sorry to hear your wife can no longer knit!

There’s a website called Ravelry where crafters congregate…sort of a Facebook for crafters. There are options to post pics and descriptions and sell things. Your wife can guide you to the sort of information needed–yarn brand, weight, colorway, how many skeins, etc. If it’s a kit intended to make a certain item, a good photo of the cover page would be good.

I find many places named each of those things, but nowhere shows all three together. You could be in England, Ontario, or Texas, as far as I can tell. A little more info would be useful!

Thanks. Good point. We are located about an hour south west of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Sorry to hear your wife can no longer knit, I imagine it’s frustrating for her.

If you have kits, pattern and yarn together they may be quite expensive new and you might want to try selling them individually, depends how much work you want to put into listing things.
An alternative is a “job lot” on ebay where you could post lots of photos of the whole selection and sell in one go which would mean you probably wouldn’t get as much money overall but would spend less time listing, packaging and posting.
There might also be a local knitters group you could call and see if anyone might be interested.
