Newer knitter here and I am completely stumped by this row, which I’ve knitted and tinked numerous times ;-(.
Pg 3/4 Commence Pattern 3
80 sts on my needles and the 1st row is:
K5, yfw Sl1, K1, psso, K8 ending with K3 instead of K8.
My math says I’ll have 72 sts left to do the repeats. But the repeat “uses” 10 sts, not 8 sts. The yfw inc 1, and the psso dec 1, therefore the Sl1 + K1 + 8 sts = 10 sts used, right?
I’d love some help! Otherwise my newborn granddaughter will end up wearing this for her high school graduation lol !
Yes, the repeat of yfw, sl1, k1, psso, k8 is 10 sts
At the beginning of the row is k5 and at the end is k3 instead of k8
So
K5 = 5 used
(Yfw, sl1, k1,psso, k8) 7 times = 70 used
Yfw, sl1, k1, psso, k3 = 5 used
Total 80 used, and 80 remain on the needles.
I think you just forgot that part of the repeat is made before the final k3 so you were a couple of stitches out in the counting.
I hope this helps.
Lovely dress and I’m sure she’ll get it before graduation!
Thank you so much. I had forgotten that last repeat, so now she’ll have her little dress way before she graduates! Your explanation helped tremendously !
