Sugared food coloring

I accidentally used sugared food coloring (Betty Crocker’s Neon Gel, corn syrup base, second ingredient sugar.) I had already immersed the yarn when I remembered that everything I’ve read said NOT to use the sugared kinds of food coloring, so now the million dollar question, yarn ruined? BFL/nylon sock yarn.

Thanks so much!

Well, you’ll have sweet yarn for sure!

Worse case, you’ll just have to rinse all that sugar out so it won’t be sticky.

I did do two “extra” wash/rishes after immersion was complete and it feels completely normal. It’s almost dry now hanging in the tub and I can’t decipher any difference, so hopefully I’m all set!

Thanks a bunch!

Gotta see this ‘sweet yarn’! (I already saw your hands!)

Cyndi, my phone takes horrid pictures, but here’s an idea anyway.

It actually looks close to accurate, but not quite, I used the “Neon” food coloring and it’s really saturated and vivid, but still tonal. I really like how these “accidental” food coloring colors come out, I guess they don’t mix quite right like professional dyes would so it makes an interesting heathered effect instead.
