Substituting yarn for Binweed pattern on Ravelry

I was watching a review on YouTube for Drops Nord yarn. At the end it suggested projects using Nord….Binweed a cardigan on Ravelry. I bought the pattern . My question is, if you can substitute Nord a fingering yarn for what the pattern calls for (Knitting for Olive merino)also a fingering yarn, do you do the gauge in the pattern, using whatever needles do that with the Nord? Also I plan to use the Drops Kid Silk for Olive soft Silk Mohair.

There are several knitters who have substituted the Drops yarns (Nord and Kid Silk) in this pattern.

You’ll need to work a gauge swatch to be sure of the correct gauge and needles for your knitting. Use both yarns for the swatch and make sure it’s large enough (maybe 28-30 sts) so that you can measure over the middle 4 inches for the most accurate measure. You could start out with the larger size needles given in the pattern and then adjust from there.

This cardigan is a beauty!

That is what I was thinking but wanted to be sure. Also good to hear that other knitters have substituted both Drops for the Olive. I’ve always been pretty happy with the quality of Drops and it is considerably less expensive. Thanks!

We’d love to see a photo when you finish this intricate design. Have fun with it!

I will definitely post the finished product. It may take me a while though. I read over the pattern in full before purchasing the yarn. You may be hearing back from me with a few questions.!
