I am going to start on mom’s Christmas cardigan now! It’s the Lion Brand Three-Seson Cardigan Jacket but in a nicer color than Heather Grey!

I’m very unsure about substituting yarn yet and especially how much to buy, especially since it’s an online order. Perhaps someone here can tell me if they have more experience.
I would like to substitute the Lion Brand Wool Ease
recommended for Elann’s Peruvian Highland Wool. I used the latter which was the recommended yarn for my Sun Ray Shawl (Elann pattern) and was very satisfied with how it came out and how it feels.
The Peruvian Highland Wool is:
1.75 oz.
50g
197yd
Wool Ease is:
3 oz.
85g
109yd
Since both are wools and I THINK…Aran/medium weight, can I assume I need about 50% more of the Peruvian Highland Wool (going by the info above)?
Any thoughts? If you have other yarn to recommend, or tips, that’s OK too, keep in mind, I’m thrifty.
