Am working on a Debbie Bliss pattern from Wish you were here, is a sleeveless crossover. Am almost done and adding the collar but am stumped by the instructions…have picked up up 144 stiches and collar is a k2p2 rib. Instructions are:
Next 2 rows: Rib to last 47 sts. Turn
Next 2 rows: Rib to last 39 sts. Turn
This goes on for until the instructions are Rib to last 7 sts. Turn
My question is, for each row at the ‘turn’ do I keep the k2 p2 after the turn? I am having difficulty understanding why the turn has to occur. Any suggestions?
You’re doing short rows to shape the collar. When they say to turn, just turn and work the other way as if you’d completed the row. There will be a curve to the collar with the front beging shorter than the back.
Hmmmm…I get the shaping the collar part, but the pattern has no instructions on what to do with the stitches that are left on the needle at the point of the turn (i.e. in the first row, there are the 47 stitches left on the needle at the turn?)
The pattern just continues to reduce the number of stitches to the turn, then you cast off the ones that had just been ribbed, but no mention on what to do with the original 47 from the very first row at the turn?
I’m not sure if the pattern you’re working is here, but these are corrections.
The only alternative I would suggest is when you get down to the 7 stitches, work all the way across to the end, turn, work all the way back and then bind off.
Thanks very much for the suggestion. Unfortunately I had already chaeck the Debbie Bliss site and there were no corrections for the top I am making. I am considering contacting them to see if there might still be a correction neeced for this pattern as well.
If that fails, I will try what you suggested - thanks again
