Struggling understanding pattern

Hey, I’m new here so I’m not sure if I’m posting in the right place, really sorry if it’s not. I want to knit a jumper for my husband. I’ve never knitted a jumper before. I’ve knitted plenty of tops, socks and other things, but never a jumper so I’m having some trouble understanding the pattern.

I’m a bit confused at the part circled. I understand the first part (bind off for armholes) but I’m not sure about the rest of it. I think I understand the part about 2 stitches at both ends but where does the k1 sk2p come in if it’s 2. And when it says when 4 stitches remain, does that mean 4 stitches left completely on the needle? I’m sorry they’re such a stupid questionA lol, it’s 5:30am here and I’ll probably wake up and understand it😂. Please be nice, I’m a beginner at this haha

Welcome to KH!
You’re going to be decreasing two sts at the beginning of the row and two at the end. The sk2p and the k3tog each decrease by two.
This video comes close. The only difference is that your pattern wants you to slip the first stitch as if to knit (not purlwise as in the video). Knitting 2 together decreases by one stitch and passing the slipped stitch over and off the needle decrease by an additional stitch.

After the sk2p knit the stitches on the left needle as usual until there are 4sts on the left needle. Then work the k3tog.

These are all good questions so don’t hesitate to ask or to post again if this isn’t clear. Good luck with the sweater!

Thank you so much! It makes so much sense now hahah. You’re a lifesaver, honestly
