I’m knitting a simple cardigan in stocking stitch and the pattern has no band ribbing. Instead, it says to double crochet along the left and right fronts. After completing this, the “rolling” is still happening. Am I doing something wrong?
It’s not you, it’s the almost incorrigible stockinette stitch. It has a strong tendency to curl.
A deeper border may help Wetting and pinning out to dry thouroughly will counteract the curl to some extent.
Here are a few other ideas some of which aren’t practical for a finished sweater. I have to say that the stockinette body of a sweater of mine doesn’t curl but the lace border does. Needs blocking each time.
Thank you so much salmonmac. The link you sent with all the different techniques has been so helpful.
I suspect that I should have skipped 2 or 3 stitches instead of going into every stitch. Also, my tension is very tight. Will undo the double crochet and redo.
Good luck and let us know how it’s going. This is something everyone deals with at one time or another.
