Sock Question!

I want to knit a pair of socks for my son in Alabama–but it doesn’t get really cold there. Is there a good cotton blend for sock knitters?? I know he wants solid darker colors, but still NOT TOO HOT socks! (He’s hot–if I do say so myself!! :inlove: ) but doesn’t want HOT FEET!

Hmmm…I know there are cotton blend sock yarns, but I’ve never used any of them. Does your LYS carry any?

I think Elann.com and Yarn.com (WEBS) has cotton sock yarn. My LYS store does so maybe yours does too?

Ahhh-how lovely it must be to have a LYS!! But alas, I do not have one.
I will check out Elann and Webbs and thanks for the info, ya’ll!! :happydance:

If you’re going to knit cotton socks, I recommend a blend of cotton and wool or cotton and nylon to give it some elasticity. Cotton alone will stretch out and the socks will become droopy with wear… and that’s no fun.

KnitPicks’ Dancing is a nice cotton blend sock yarn

Cascade Fixation, which Webs carries – www.yarn.com – is cotton with elastic in it, meant for socks and other stretchy uses. (I used it for my recent patterns for Knitty Gritty, it’s great). Lots of colors to choose from.

Hey Ladies–thanks for all your answers–you , as usual, were all the help in the world!! Think I’ll check out Webs. Wish I had some knitting buddies nearby so we could order things together and share shipping costs on stuff. I hope anyone who can does that–or at least gets the price up to FREE SHIPPING!! :happydance:
