Sock pattern....please?

okay, I’ve never knitted a pair of socks. I wanted an easy pattern but all my books have the wrong size dpns. I have a size 6 or 7 I think. And all my yarn is worsted weight… But, i was wondering if any of you had an easy sock pattern with that kind of description. Thanks in advance!

Oh, btw, i’ve knitted fingerless gloves, which kinda makes socks seem like a cakewalk doesn’t it?

Personally, I’ve never knitted socks on that size needle because the more compact the stitch, the more comfortable the socks.

Hopefully someone with more knowledge than I can help you out. It’ll be interesting to see what is posted.

I often knit ‘house socks’ (socks to be worn indoors without shoes, like slippers) on size 8s with worsted weight yarn. There are several advantages: fewer stitches (I typically cast on about 54), it knits up quicker, the larger needles are easier to manipulate, and it’s easier to learn basic sock construction.

That being said, they make ugly dress socks and I wouldn’t wear them to ‘show off’. But they ARE fine for hiking socks inside of boots.

Silver’s sock tutorial (http://www.cometosilver.com/socks/) has instructions for worsted weight socks and the tutorial is fantastic for learning (it’s what I followed to make my first pair of socks…which I still wear, btw)

You might try this site. They have lots of options and organized into yarn weight.

I second Silver’s Sock Class…if you have never knit socks it is a fantastic place to start. There are pictures and detailed instructions for every step.
