Hello all!
I’m knitting my first sock. I’m at the “turn heel” part. This is what the pattern calls for:
Row 1: Sl 1, Purl 22, P2 tog, Turn.
Row 2: Sl 1, K12, Slip 1, K1, PSSO, Turn.
Row 3: Sl 1, P12, P2tog, Turn.
Repeat rows 2 and 3 until all sts have been worked.
Using spare needle, pick up and knit 17 sts along side of heel. Knit across needles 2 and 3. Pick up and knit 17 sts along other side of heel, knit 7 sts from needle 1 on to needle 4. Stitches are now divided as follows: Needle 1: 24 sts, Needles 2&3: 17 sts, Needle 4: 24 sts.
My question is this:
I Did Row 1,2 and 3. I repeated 2 and 3 until I believe I had all the sts worked. I assume that part means until I can’t “sl, stitch 12 and 2tog” anymore, right? Now I have 14 sts left on that needle. I have 3 needles with stitches on them right now.
Next it asks to pick up and knit 17 sts along side of heel, etc, and 17 on next side, etc. I think I get this part, but I don’t know how I’m going to end up with Needle 1 having 24 sts on it, 2&3 with 17 sts and needle 4 with 24. I’m lost. It almost seems like all 5 needles will have sts on them. Help. lol
Thanks for all your help!!
