Sock blockers

Plastic or wood? Pros and cons to each? Just personal preference?
Strange question, I know.

Mom has both and the wood ones are so pretty and nice…The plastic ones (from fibertrends) work well too but just not as pretty :teehee:

I made my own following this…it works good for pictures…I think the wood/plastic works a bit better for blocking though…unless you could cut in holes like the Fiber Trend ones have

What a fabulous idea to make your own!

I have the fibertrends one. It was great. I like the fact that they are mold proof!

I have some really old blockers made of metal and they work well as they have a spring which will allow you to adjust for sizes. I thought they were to put inside boots but they belonged to my mom and she never wore boots but was always making socks. I did find a picture of what I had on the net and said sock blockers.

Those metal adjustable ones sound pretty cool (can’t see the pic).

99% of the socks I make are for me, and since I don’t have a blog to post pics or bother positng pics anywhere anyway, I don’t bother blocking them. I do block the occassional gift socks, so I made a blocker from a coat hanger. You can google ‘coat hanger sock blocker’ or similar to find directions. I guess they, too, would qualify as metal and adjustable, but I bet not nearly as nice as Mathwizard’s!

Yeah I made myself sock blockers out of wire coat hangers and I like them pretty well. I TOTALLY want the wooden ones, but I never thought they could mold.
