Slouchy beanie instructions- please help!

Hello knitters!

Can someone please help me with these instructions? It’s from a Leisure Arts booklet I got at Joann’s.

Cast on 92 stitches.

Rnd1: K1P1 around.

Then… Here’s the part I don’t understand:

Repeat Rnd 1 until ribbing measures approx 1 1/2", increasing 19 stitches evenly spaced on last rnd: 111 stitches.

If I’m increasing 19 stitches total on the last round, how many stitches should be in between each increase? And also, what type of increase should I use as it doesn’t say? A basic make 1?

I really appreciate anyone’s help!

Thanks and happy knitting!:aww:

it would be approximately every 4 stitches you would increase one. You have 92sts and need to add 19 to get to 111. Therefore 19 into 92 is approximately 4 sts. Just a regular increase one each 4th stitch

What luvbug says is about right. What I figured is to knit 1, then M1 between that stitch and the next one. Then knit 5 and make one between stitches. If you keep working like that you get 19 and have 2 quite close together right at the round change.

If you did a M1 after 4 you would have too many, or if you increased in every 4th stitch you would have too many.

You don’t have to have absolute perfection. Be sure to count at the end of the round to make sure you have 111. I would use a simple backward loop over the right hand needle or one of the M1’s where you lift the strand between stitches. You can find both of those in the increase section of the free videos in the drop down menu, on the bar above.
