Sloppy knit stitch

Hello there,
I am knitting a sweater in a Reverse Stockinette Stitch with Garter Stitch cable in the center. The last Knit stitch, before the purl stitch, looks open and very sloppy. The same problem runs from buttom up and look the same on both sides. If anyone knows how to fix it, any help is appreciated.

Try working the first stitch of the cable through the back loop, and the first stitch after the cable through the back loop.
