So, when you all slip your stitches when ever you are knitting no matter what you are knitting… which way do you slip them? i’m kind of curious… i mean… does it really matter which way you slip them?

I believe you slip as if to purl unless instructions tell you otherwise. I just finished a blanket where I incorrectly slipped as if to knit. I continued in that manner for the whole blanket, so no problems. I think regardles of which way you go, you need to be consistent.

If you’re doing ssk, then you slip as if to knit. If you’re doing skpsso, again as if to knit. If you’re just slipping then slip as if to purl unless told otherwise.
So, then slip purlwise. Unless i make the mistake of slipping knitwise then i slip all of them knitwise for the whole pattern? I was watching amys sock heel vid and she slips them purl and knitwise while she is turning the heel and her heel turned out great! did you all notice that?
If you make a mistake do it consistently throughout the pattern, too. Been there done that. :roll:
I’ve always slipped them kwise on a knit row and pwise on a purl row. But I don’t slip the first stitch on a row; makes my first stitch too loose.

I have always understood the rule to be that when you slip, always slip purlwise with two exceptions only:
-unless the pattern says to slip knitwise
-unless the slipped stitch will be passed over and dropped off the needle
and would add a third: when you can clearly see that it should be knitwise and the designer forgot to mention it.
