Slippers

Hello everyone: I’ve just graduted from scarves and am looking for a slipper pattern that is not a booty type. I’d like the kind that just hug the foot below the ankle, but it needs to be simple. Does anyone know of such a pattern? I appreciate it. Carolyn

thank you so much for this pattern: one question, can the increasesb be done by yarn over, or will there be too many holes. I’ve never increased any other way, I appreciate your help, carolyn

Here’s a favorite pattern:

Size 8 needles. Knitting Worsted.

Cast on say, 54 sts. K2, P2 for 2 rows. Then do K2, YO, P2tog across. Then do 2 more rows of K2, P2.

Now do garter st. for 6".

Then bact to K2, P2 for 2 rows, do K2, YO, P2tog across, 2 more rows of K2, P2. Bind off.

Using needle or crochet hook, thread a double-strand of yarn through each row along one short edge, going from the K2 edge through the garter st. to the other K2 edge. Pull tight and tie - this is where the toes go.

Now take a length of heavy yarn, 3x the length of the K2-P2 edge. Working from the toe, thread the yarn through the YO holes as if you were lacing up a shoe. Pull tight, tie off with a pretty bow.

For children, use smaller needles and cast on fewer sts. For long slippers, cast on more sts.
