Slip 1, K2 tog PSSO HELP!

I have 37 stitches in each row. The instructions for this row goes:

K1, SSK, YO, K6, YO, slip 1, K2 tog, PSSO, YO, K1, YO, slip1, K2 tog, PSSO, YO,K5, YO, slip 1, K2 tog, PSSO, YO, K1. YO, slip1, K2 tog, PSSO, YO, K6,YO,K2tog, K1

I am brand new to knitting and have been doing pretty well until this. Im knitting dishcloths and this is my 4th one. This one row is killing me…HELP! I keep getting 41 or 46 or whatever number of stitches. What am I doing wrong? :wall:

are you doing your yarn overs, but not doing the decreases?

the abbreviations for these stitches are:
k1 - knit 1
ssk - slip, slip, knit the slipped stitches together
yo - yarn over
k2 tog - knit 2 together
psso - pass slipped stitch over

i think that is all of them.
what it should work out to is the same number of stitches you had before

hope this helps

and make sure when you do your yo’s that you are only moving your yarn under then over the needle, DO NOT think you need to complete this by following up with a knit. This is a common misconception that people have about yo’s, but it is simply the one step, not two. This might be where you are getting your extra stitches from maybe
