Row 1 (RS) Knit
Row 2 Purl
Row 3 P1, *k1, p1. Repeat from *across row
Row 4 Purl

Row 6 Repeat row 3
Repeat rows 1-6 for pattern
[B]Sleeves:[/B]
Inst#1. CO 37 sts.
Inst#2. Work even in patt for 1"
Inst#3. Working added sts into patt, inc 1 st each end every 4th row 17 times - 71 sts.
Inst#4. Work even until sleeve measures 10"
Inst#5. BO all sts.
PLEASE help interpret these instructions:
[B]Inst#2: Q#1:[/B] Work even in pattern means to work the normal rows with no increases until work measures 1 inch, correct? [B]Q#2:[/B] If work measures 1" at Row 4 in the pattern, I begin my first increase row on row 5, and this will not ‘disrupt’ the pattern, correct? In other words, should I complete the pattern (rows 1-6)before beginning my 1st of every 4th row increase rows?
[B]Inst#3: Q#1:[/B] Add 1 st. at beginning and 1 st. at end of every 4th row, correct? [B]Q#2:[/B] “17 times” - so I will have 17 increase rows, correct? [B]Q#3:[/B] “71 sts.” - 17 increase rows x 2 inc. sts. @ row = 34 sts. I do not understand “71 sts.”
With these questions clarified, I have add’l problems implementing the increases but will ask once these preliminary questions are answered. Thank you for any help you can give on this project.
#2, Q1 - yes; Q2 kind of, but you do the incs on the edges so it won’t disrupt it too much. Work the new sts into the pattern wherever it is and you are so they fit in. Just start on the 4th row after you have 1" done, whichever row you’re on in the pattern.
#3, Q1 - Yes, these don’t have to be in the very end sts, many people add the sts 1 in from the edge.
Q2 - Yes, 17 inc rows and at the end of them you should have 71 sts. You start with 37 sts and add 34, so that will equal the 71.

[B]Q#1 [/B]- Not an [I]inch[/I] in from each end, but 1 [I]stitch[/I] in. You can use the M1 st or kfb, whichever you prefer.
Q2 - See answer to Q 1. You can do a M1 st on the purl side, just purl into it. The videos for those are on the Increases page just under each type of inc on the knit side.
Q 3a - Yep.
Q 3b - Not an inch, only [B]one stitch[/B] in. That disrupts the pattern less, any glitches in the pattern will be mostly hidden by the seaming.
