If a pattern said: “skip 1 stitch, knit the next stitch, then knit the skipped stitch” what does that mean?
Does it mean to just skip over the stitch and actually knit the next one, but dont take it off the needle (how could you?) and then knit the skipped one and take them off together??

This reminds me of a 2 stitch cable. It was something like, knit second stitch, knit first stitch tbl, drop both off the needle.
Other than that, I don’t see how you would do that.
I think you have to leave the stitches on the needle. Otherwise it would say “slip one stitch,…”
You’re right, knit into the 2nd st on the needle, then go back and knit the 1st one and let them both drop off the needle. It’s a mini cable, or a twist stitch and if you practice a little with some leftover yarn and large needles (knit a couple rows, then try it) you’ll find that you can do it. It’s awkward at first, but so is just about anything you do.
