I’m making a the “Newborn Topdown Cardigan” sweater for a friend’s baby. The baby is due in a month, but I’m greatly increasing the size of the sweater because in Texas, a sweater for this time of year will be worn for a month and then put in a box. So I’m trying to make it for next year. The family runs very tall–big babies, so I’m knitting on size 8 needles holding 2 strands of DK together.
Here’s what I have so far:
Back length: 12.5"
Chest: 23"
I’m not sure if the proportions are even right. If not…well, I don’t know what I’ll do.
Here’s my question: How long should the sleeves be to make it proportional. (It’s okay if it fits in a year or two. I just want it to be the right proportions.)
So have I totally screwed this up? Or do I just keep knitting and finish the sleeves. If so, what length should the sleeves be?
