Sizing for a baby’s hat

What size hat should I knit for the winter, for a baby that was just born this month of October?Should I make a 0-3, or 6 months ?

Here’s a description of hat sizes and baby measurements. I tend to go with a bit larger size (6 months) especially since babies have proportionally large heads.
Keep in mind these size estimates vary from site to site but Knit Picks is fairly reasonable and designer to designer.

One hat pattern that has lots of stretch and accommodates a range of head sizes is a k2p2 rib.

Thank you so much ! I’m never quite sure , but I also thought 6 months would be better . Also, I need a basic pattern for a little baby sweater. I bought Lionbrand woolease yarn .

What weight Woolease? It comes in ww, chunky, thick&quick…

Wool ease worsted Medium weight #4.

Flax is a good go-to pattern for a heavy worsted.
