If that is a newborn bootie how did the human race last this long?
It’s for a newborn Sasquatch or Yeti, of course…
Got to watch the yarn and needle size on patterns.
:teehee:
Yeah, needle size and yarn makes a huge difference in patterns. What pattern did you use and what yarn?
Hmmm… It looks like you knit too many rows maybe, but I can’t count from the photo to make sure. Do you have 17 ridges/34 rows?
I do see that you chose a yarn that is quite a different gauge, but it seems like the bootie would be smaller not larger in that case so that is why I think it’s the number of rows. If that’s not it then I’m just not sure.
Yes and I used a row counter while knitting it.
Then that may not be it. I’m really not sure. Try again and see if you can figure it out maybe.
Did you do a gauge swatch? It is always a good idea to make sure your gauge is correct when making some article of clothing where fit is important. I’d say it’s absolutely essential to make a gauge swatch when you are substituting yarns.

The gauge stade the same on three fitrent yarns in two difrent weaghts.
I think her yarn is misnamed, too. It’s 16 st over 4 in which is not the typical weight for baby yarn. Anyway, it’s possible there is an error in the pattern. Here’s a few more simple patterns that are similar that you’ll probably get better results.

ETA: I’ll try making the LB pattern later and see what I come up with just for interests sake.

Are we looking at the same yarn? Her link took me to Sirdar snuggly DK with a gauge of 22sts over 4" with a size 6. The original Vanna yarn is 17sts/4" on a size 8. The VC yarn doesn’t have baby weights, only ‘baby’ colors, it’s all worsted.
I meant the yarn suggest for the pattern. It’s Vanna’s Choice Baby. Most yarns that are “baby” yarns are more of a DK/sport weight. It is the ‘baby’ colors only as you said, but I think the name can be misleading if someone just thinks it’s baby yarn w/o looking at gauge.
That doesn’t seem to be the problem here though. If anything those booties knit with the DK should have come out smaller not larger.
Yeah, I agree with you on that…
I tried a worsted first they are the same size.
Size 8 needles? That’s 5mm, not 8mm…
Yes
Just checking. The only thing I can think of is you did too many rows and possibly stitches.
Here’s a thought… did you know that each garter ridge is two rows? Just checking to make sure you didn’t count it as one row. That would make way too many rows.
I used a row counter that I clicked ever time I finshed a row. I am going to change to my #6 needles mybe it is my tenchen.
That’s a good idea; the yarn you have is a DK and in the pattern it’s a worsted, so smaller needles should help.
