Is anyone familiar with this pattern. I don’t know how I get from 111 to 47stitches.
I decrease neck at rows 1,5,9,13 so that’s a decrease of 2 stitches per row so (-8) and decrease at raglan (is this the stitch before and after each sleeve?) that would be rows 1,3,5,7,9,11,13 so that will be (-28)
Won’t I be left with 75 stitches?
Your decrease at the neck is correct.
For the raglan decreases there are usually 4 raglan markers. Decrease before and after each marker (4 markers x 2sts per marker x 7= 56sts decreased). That decreases 8sts at the neck and 56sts at the raglans for a total of 64sts decreased taking you from 111 to 47sts.

I’m doing this pattern also. Do I do the decreasing as they did in the first set - slip 1, k1, psso then k2 tog on the other side of the raglan? Also, are the purl rows just plain purl and not like rows 4 and 6?
Marion
Are you making the same size as shown in post #1?
If so, decrease for the raglans on either side of that center raglan stitch (the k1) as given in the pattern:
slip 1, k1, psso, k1, k2tog
I can see row 4 in the section in post 1. For that row there are decreases either side of the raglan stitch in the body only, not in the sleeves. For row 6 the row is purled across.
After the initial 6 rows, work 13 rows in pattern repeating rows 1-6 but substitute raglan decreases on every other row. That would be rows 7,9,11,13,15,17 and 19. These would be knit rows.
The decreases at the neck edge would now be rows 7,11,15 and 19. Keep working these decreases to 47sts. Then work row 20 leaving you with 45sts.
It may help to keep a chart with a column for the pattern row, a column for the raglan
decreases and one for the neck edge decreases.
Thank you very much - I shall give that a go
I’m so so sorry to keep asking about this pattern but I didn’t understand about when you explained that the decreases were on the body and not on the sleeves - I thought the raglan was just the sleeve seams.
I’m really sorry, I think I’ve tackled a pattern too complicated for me or I’m just being silly!

It’s not a problem for us to answer questions. We want to see you succeed. It helps me if I draw out the markers and the decreases on some of the pattern rows. Then it’s easier to visualize the placement of the decreases.
In row 5 for example there are 8 decreases, one on each side of the 4 raglan stitches or marked stitches.
In row 4 there are only 4 decreases. If you diagram them you’ll see that they are at each end of the back sts and on the fronts where they fronts meet the sleeves. But the decreases don’t occur on the sleeve sided of the raglan stitch.
Oh I see! You are so patient. Thank you. I’ll take a deep breath and do a diagram to help.
Hey Marion, just wwnt to cheer you on. Any new pattern can be difficult and have techniques or instructions which we find tricky. If we don’t try out these patterns which challenge us (or stump us) we won’t learn anything new.
Don’t feel bad about asking questions, it keeps this lovely forum busy and interesting. I learn a lot from the questions people ask and I like seeing different things, so you’re helping by asking.
So after the 1st 6 rows, in the following 13 rows the purl rows will just be ordinary purl with no decreasing?
I find the diagrams really help make sense of the markers and the shaping. See if one works for you. You can do this!
