Sirdar Pattern for a Cat Blanket

I have decided to knit my cat her own blanket and have a Sirdar Pattern No. 7828. It has an Irish Moss Stitch border (first time I have come across this stitch). After the first 4 rows it says ‘Work 4 rows more in Irish moss-stvMNMNB’. Any ideas what this means as I am completely stumped. Thank you

What is the name of the pattern? Is there a list of abbreviations at the beginning or at the end of the pattern? It’s not a common abbreviation.
Irish Moss can have variations but this is the basic way of working it. It’ll give you a nice flat border.

Thank you so much for coming back so quickly. The name of the pattern is Cat Blankets in Sirdar Country Style DK 7828. I think this is an old retro pattern. There is a list of abbreviations and they are the usual suspects like k, p, etc. The pattern is in two colours, has a fish pattern on one edge and the abbreviation that refers to this is M = main and C = contrast no reference to N or B. I have watched the video that you gave the link to and rather like the look of the moss stitch in the video so I will probably do it that way as it is very attractive, probably wasted on my very spoilt cat but I will appreciate it. Once again cannot thank you enough for your help. Linda

Maybe this one?

It’s all good experience. The moss stitch gives a nice flat border that won’t curl and will help keep down the tendency of stockinette to curl. Enjoy working the blanket!

The exact one and for good measure I even bought it from LoveCrafts. Linda

You could write to Sirdar and ask them. Even though you’ve found a solution, the company could update the PDF to make this instruction clearer for others purchasing in the future.

Hi, thank you for your reply. I will do as you suggest and thank you for finding the Sirdar help. I will be honest and confess I thought that Sirdar did not exist anymore as a current business and it would certainly be really good to find out what the letters mean as I am a little curious. I thought it was a pretty cute pattern as well. Thank you. Linda

Hi, Just to let you know that I took your advice and emailed the link to Sirdar you gave me and they have come back to apologise and confirm that it was a printing error in the pattern and to be ignored. I cannot thank you enough for your help and advice. Linda
