Trying to make the buttonhole on this pattern in rib, pattern only states 1 row, but it is not turning out right, any advice.

Can you give us just the row with the directions for the buttonhole, please? What don’t you think is working out?

Re-Baby Bolero
Starting with second row of 1x1 rib work three rows then
rib to last 5 stitches, yfwd, rib2tog, k3, this is all it says then work three more rows in rib and cast off, just does not look ok.

Sometimes the problem is that the rib2tog doesn’t look right. You could try shifting it over one stitch if you think this is the problem. You might also continue the rib pattern after the rib2tog instead of k3.
