Single Color Placket on Fair Isle Cardigan

I am making the child’s Fair Isle Cardigan featured in the Debbie Bliss “Family Knits” pattern book. This Fair isle pattern features four wide bands of colorful design across all five pieces of this button front classic cardigan. I’ve completed 2 sleeves and the back, learning to use two different colors of yarn on each row. I anchor (forgetting the term) any lengths of yarn over 5 stitches in length. My problem is with the front placket which is made up of four stitches in seed stitch along both the left and right center front pieces. This placket is always the same base color of the sweater (pink) which is NOT present in all lines. So HOW do I transition from the body of the sweater to knit these four stitches when I have not been using that color yarn on that line? I’m befuddled. I have tried to anchor the yarns across the “gap” but clearly I’m missing a vital technique!!

Thanks!!! If I don’t get an answer I understand quickly, I will skip this (horizontally stitched) placket, make the two front pieces without it, and then pick up stitches vertically to add four long rows of seed stitch along each front edge.

Welcome to KH!

You can treat the plackets as intarsia sections. You’ll need a separate ball of yarn for each of the bands. Knit across to the band, pick up the pink yarn, twist the last color used and the pink and then knit the band. Of course one band will be at the beginning of a RS row and one will be at the end of the RS row but you’ll have separate balls of pink for each.
Here’s a video that shows the twist.

THAT’S PERFECT!!! Thank you so very much!! And so fast on the response!! I have searched and searched but couldn’t find this. I did learn about bobbins, which may be helpful with some of the color sections. Again, thank you so much!
