I’m just about to start my first proper knitting project and I was wondering if anyone can help me out…
I want to make a Weasley jumper (from Harry Potter) so I just want a really simple crewneck jumper that I can add an R on to. I’m having trouble finding a pattern for the jumper though. I’ve got DK wool but most of the patterns that I like seem to be for worsted weighted wool!
If anyone has any ideas on where I could find a pattern (free if possible 
) I’d be really grateful!! (I quite like 80s style jumpers but because this is my first post I’m not allowed to post an URL to an example!)

Hi and welcome to KH. Have you checked www.ravelry.com ? It’s free to join and there are many, many, many patterns, some free and some for purchase, listed there. You should be able to find a basic pattern to make up.

You’re right that most of the patterns are for heavier weight yarn, including the one from Canadian Livingthat is very popular. There’s this one too which is for DK, however:

Maybe that’s close to what you’re looking for. If you can’t get the exact gauge, there are a range of sizes so you could go up or down a size to get the correct fit.

My first choice would be Ravelry. They have many free patterns and a few at a nominal cost from various designers. What I like about it is you can narrow down your search. At the left side of the screen, you can refine your search such as: free or paid pattern, size, type of yarn you have, and even a size needle you want to use. Very helpful.
