Silver's toe up sock for a men's size 13 in fingering weight?

I’m trying to surprise hubby for his birthday and have in my hands a pair of his dress socks. I’m using knitpicks essential fingering weight and was wondering how many stitches I should cast on initially?

I tried to guess and conver to 14 wraps (total of 28 stitches) but I’ve just ripped it out because it seemed like it was too small (about 1" smaller than the toe box of his dress socks unstretched). Also I’m guessing based on the the measurements of his dress socks (8 inches circumfrence) and my gauge (7-8 spi on size 2 needles) that I should shoot for 64 stitches for the foot area. Am I guessing wrong?

Would love any input from people who have already done this for a wide width man’s foot (he wears 12.5 wide).

I would prolly look at other men sock patterns…to give you an estimate of how many sts you will need along with length…Hereis becka’s site that has some men patterns on it…she has more on the right side column

Hereis another list of patterns that also has some men socks listed…

Here’s a site that helps you calculate all your measurements for socks. http://www.thedietdiary.com/blog/lucia/530
I have an older sock pattern book and the men’s socks in fingering weight yarn are generally 72 stitches around the calf and the foot.
