Shutterbugs Blog!

I LOVE taking great pictures, especially of critters in my garden or our dogs. I do believe I was born with the shutterbug’s gene, though I didn’t come to that conclusion myself, it was my DH who said I had the ‘talent’ and realized all his favorite pictures were taken by me. My grandfather in fact was some kind of well-known photographer in Rio de Janeiro in the 30’s. So maybe DH is right.

I’ve started a Picasa album here. I’m subdividing into knitting, garden, dogs, DH’s engineering projects, and I love taking pics of things in shadows or at night in my garden, you’ll also find those there.

Here are a few of my all-time favorites. Show me yours! :waving:

I viewed your photos. BEAUTIFUL. You captured great pictures of the little creatures.

Those are very pretty! What kind of camera do you have?

I’m kind of an amateur photog, too although since I started knitting I haven’t done much and end up using my little camera more than my DSLR. :teehee: Here’s my albums.

Now I have a Canon Digital SLR, but many of those photos were taken with a cheap JVC digital. DH got me the nicer one so I could take even better photos, but really I think almost any camera will do as long as your composition and subject are interesting and well-lit. Afterall, what good is a great camera if you don’t keep the subject well-placed in the shot. Sometimes that means NOT centering the subject or person. At least, that’s how I like to do it.

Yes, that is called the “rule of thirds”. On occasion the center is the proper place, but most of the time it’s better off center. I agree that any camera will do a good job of placement to get a pleasing shot. What a better camera will do is help with depth of field, lighting and clarity. I have a Canon Digital Rebel XT which is a DSLR, but I’ve been mostly using my Canon Powershot because its light and easy and always available. :teehee:

Mine’s a Canon EOS.
