OK, so I’m working my gauge swatch. Should I block it before I measure? I’ve read that recommendation in many places but usually in regards to wool yarns. I’m using Cascade Yarn Ultra Pima cotton, so soft and silky it feels like silk! Should the swatch be blocked?
I think with wool it’s important, but with cotton I usually just wash and dry it. However I do think you should treat the swatch as you’re planning on treating the finished piece. If you’ll be hand washing and blocking it then do that to the swatch so you know how it reacts to the same treatment.
