Hej there , I am knitting the wiola cardigan but as the front comes up too high I wanted to create a lower front this is part of a pattern of squares. The squares are 3 roas high and 3 st wide and alternate in dark and light blue . I found a cardigan of someone who did just that but I tried and cant get it right somehow .If anybody got any ideas ??? Photo is the one I would like to replicate for the neckline

Have you tried the short rows as your post’s title suggests? Start the short rows earlier than the front neckline shaping. Six to eight short rows would raise the back and although it would eliminate some of the last pattern at the neck, it would have the effect of lowering the front neck.
These short rows were added in the checkerboard section.

There are a few knitters on Ravelry who have altered the neckline to make it flatter and less spread although that may not be your concern.

yes I did try to make short rows twice and starting from closest to where the sleeve meets the front but Somehow i can not get it symetrical. tried casting off st but that looked a mess and dont want the front to come up higher as it is allready quite high to my liking
You may need to extend the short rows into the front to begin. Start with a marker at the center back. In this video the short rows are only on the back of the sweater and that may be enough so that the front sits lower for you. Markers at the short row turns are a good reminder and help keep the short rows even on each side.
See if that helps and gives you enough of a change to lower the front.
Thank youfor your advice ,will have another go at it and see if Icanwork it out !
Let us know if it works out or not. I’m sure there are other suggestions too.
Did you want to specifically shape the front neck, rather than raise the back neck?
If so did you want it a straight slope, a squarish shape, a curve?
Have you tried the sloped bind off method to avoid the stair step effect when binding off the front neck?
Will you be picking up from the front to make the next pattern of the top of the yoke just before the neckband? Or do you need live stitches?
When you say it wasn’t symetrical is it the pattern of the squares making it look a bit off or was it the number cast off which didn’t work?
Can you post a pic of your knitting?
Lots of questions, sorry, i might have an idea or two but I’m not totally sure exactly what it is you’re after.
