Short row sleeve cap

I am about to knit a pattern in which the sleeves are knit by picking up
Sitches around the armholes and using short rows to shape the caps. It says to not pick up the wraps. Why would you not do that? Won’t there be holes? The pattern is moyen age

Depending how the pattern was written, it could be that the holes are intended. However, knitting the wraps in is, IMHO, a personal taste, not wrapping the stitch would leave holes. what you could do, is knit a couple of test swatches to see which looks better, picking up the wraps, or leaving them be.

It depends on where the wraps are placed. If they’re close to the edges, they may become part of the pattern at the shoulder seams.
If not, I’d pick up the wraps so that you won’t see the little collar around the wrapped stitch (or you could do German short rows which avoid the wrap).
I’ve looked at the projects on Ravelry and I can’t see the wraps.
