I am knitting my first garment (crew neck sweater) and confused but the pattern.
I have 120 stitches on needle.
Can someone explain to me what I should be doing after I cast off 14? I know i will probably be like “duh” once its explained, but want to make sure I am doing it right. Thanks!
Welcome to the forum!
You’re going to be working one shoulder at a time. The 14 sts are cast off for the shoulder, then work across till you have 17sts on the right hand needle and turn as you would at the end of a row. This is the neck edge. You’ll be leaving sts on the left hand needle but that’s ok. You’ll get to them later.
Work back on the 17sts to the end of row, turn and cast off 4sts (this’ll be at the same shoulder edge as the original 14st cast off). Work across to the neck edge, turn, work back and turn. Cast off the remaining 13sts.
What is the name of your pattern?
After I cast of the 13 remaining stitches is the point I am not sure what to do. “Rejoin your yarn…” not sure what I am suppose to do from there. It is an Erika Knight Fine Knit Sweater.
When you cast off the last stitch of the 13, you’ll have a loop on the right hand needle. Cut the yarn leaving about a 6" tail to weave in later. Pull the yarn strand through the last loop:

To rejoin the yarn strand, hold the end, again leaving about a 6" tail to weave in later and begin knitting. You can hold the yarn end in your left hand alongside the left needle for the first few sts then drop it. The first couple of sts will be a little loose but you can always snug them up by pulling gently on the yarn tail.
Very good looking sweater.
Okay! So I do cut the yarn! I wasn’t sure, but thought that is what it meant.
Yes, cut the yarn leaving about a 6" tail to weave in later.
