Shaping mens armhole

OMG! I finally got it! :happydance:  Why do patterns make it more difficult? If they just said knit across then use a new ball to BO centre sts and Knit to end I would have understood more.I probably would still of asked you but it would not have taken me so long to understand. Ingrid, you really spelled it out for me, thanks. :notworthy: :muah: I have 32sts left on each shoulder and it says to BO. Should I keep them on the needle so that I can do a 3needle BO? I have seen on this site where it makes a nice shoulder seam. That means the only sewing I have to do is sew the sleeve into the armhole. What do you think?

I’d absolutely suggest that you keep the shoulder stitches live for a 3 needle bind off.

Thank you so much

I finished the body of the sweater and did the 3 needle bind off for the shoulder(was that ever nice and easy) so now I am making the neckband. It says to pick up and kit approx 87-105 sts around the neck on dpn and join and P1 row and k1 row, then knit in rib. My question is

Does it matter if I have the sweater right side out or inside out when I pick up the stitches? I am going to use a 40cm circ so that means when I knit the right side is in the inside of the circ. They want me to purl one row first so if I pick up stitches when the sweater is right side out will it work? :??

You have to have the right side of your work facing as you pick up stitches. If you do it inside out there will be a bit of an ugly edge that will show on the right side which you don’t want - it would look a bit like a seam.

If it is asking you to purl one row, then knit one row, and you are working in the round that will form one ridge of garter stitch. And then you’ll go into the ribbing.

Thank you :muah: I was not sure so now I can continue.

I finished the neckband K1,P2 on my son’s sweater so now I am suppose to turn it down and sew it. Is there a way like kitchener stitch to tack it down?

Also, I was wondering about the cast on edge. I prefer the look of the cable cast on over the long tail cast on. On Amy’s video she knits :?? 3 stitches with the tail to weave it in but on the cable cast on the tail is on the other end. So, do I have to weave it in separately when I am finished or can I knit with it on the second row?
