How did it go? If I didn’t already have plans I would have attempted to show up. Charlotte isn’t that far from SC.
Wow! I can’t believe I didn’t put an update in here!
The spinning demo went VERY well. I didn’t sell anything, but that’s okay. I figure that I’ll sell some things as time goes by. I did accomplish one thing, though. I spun enough of the confetti wool to fill two bobbins. So, I plied them together to make a beautiful skein of two-ply yarn!
Here it is, together with the blue merino I spun earlier. I’m a happy spinner!

Oh how pretty…
I like the confette plyed it shows the confette better.
:cheering: Great job!
Thank you, Leah!
Glad to hear the demo went well. The confetti looks great!
Thanks Kemp!
I just finished spinning some purple merino I’ve had in my stash for a while. I got it on eBay, but can’t remember who I bought it from.
It’s SUPER SOFT, but not a color I would ever use. So, I’m giving it to a forum member that loves purple. Andrea!

Here is how it looked while it was on the wheel. I used a flash for this photo, so the color doesn’t look right. It’s actually a true “grape” purple.

I wound all the purple merino onto my PVC Niddy Noddy, wet it, and am leaving it to dry overnight on the niddy noddy. Good thing I don’t have to worry about warping the niddy noddy, since it’s made from PVC pipes.

It looks great! I’m sure Andrea will be thrilled.
That came out really pretty. :notworthy: :happydance:
I’m sure she will really enjoy it.
Thank you, Kemp and Leah!
Tonight I tried spinning a different fiber in my stash. I had a one ounce sample of some beautiful “autumn” colored merino-silk blend.
I had bought some other fiber from this ebay seller (Split Rock Ranch), and she sent this sample as a bonus.
It was SO FUN to spin!!! Beautiful, soft, and flowed easily through my fingers. I didn’t want it to end!

And here is the final product of the purple merino I spun last night. So nice! It made a VERY LARGE skein too! That four ounces went far.

I’m pretty sure that merino/silk sample you have is the same one I have been spinning. Love it!
Swap the Red with Purple and its just like the one I have been spinning as well… Oh I love this stuff… Its going to be sooooooooooo hard to put it down when I’m done spinning it and try a different fiber. It was very pricey, but worth every cent…lol It will take me a while to spinn it all I bought 1/2 pound…lol
:cheering:
:cheering:
Kemp, it looks an awful lot like mine!
I got mine from Split Rock Ranch on eBay.
It felt GLORIOUS in my hands.

Leah, if I had 8 ounces of this stuff, I would keep spinning it until it was gone…ALL IN ONE SITTING! :teehee:
Last night, I started spinning some silver alpaca top I’ve had in my stash for a long time. It makes such a beautiful, soft yarn! I can’t wait to ply some and make a nice hat for my hubby!

I wish I could I’m dieing to knit with it. Unfortunatly I only have a drop spindle and I can’t spin for long perieds of time.
Stunning… just stunning… I love that gray color and it looks sooooooooooo soft even in the picture, just stunning!
It all looks so
Somewhere amidst all of our moving boxes is my roving. I want to spin!!!
I took a break from spinning yesterday, because my left arm was starting to ache from all my pre-drafting. :teehee:
So, I’ve been knitting instead. I’ll probably finish the silver alpaca tonight. I want to ply it!
Don’t you just hate fiber realted injuries? My pinky on my left hand went to sleep last night on me when I was finishing up some socks!
Yes! They are such a PAIN…LITERALLY! :teehee:
Tonight, I was able to finish spinning all the silver grey alpaca. It took longer than I expected. 8 ounces of alpaca takes longer than 8 ounces of wool for some reason. I guess because it’s a little harder to spin.
When I was finished, I had 2 full bobbins of yarn, so I plied them together. The finished yarn is SO BEAUTIFUL! I’m so proud.

I had a tiny bit of alpaca left on one spool when I finished plying, so I looked in my craft room, and found a bobbin of confetti wool I had worked on some time ago. I put it on the lazy kate with the alpaca, and plied them together to make a nice yarn too!

I cannot believe how soft that alpaca yarn is. Unbelievable.

I can’t keep my hands off it!
I plan on making a hat and scarf set for myself. Anyone know of a good pattern for chunky yarn?
I think I found a good pattern for a hat and a scarf.
