That’s cool, Sandy! That lady is hilarious, too. :teehee:

I’m EXHAUSTED! The day went well, and I enjoyed it all. Now, I’m home and unpacked…took a shower to wash off all the bunny smell. So, I’m gonna take a nap.

I’ll be back later with a full report on my angora spinning day!

I’m still tired, but wanted to tell a little about my fun day at Spring Fest in Waxhaw, NC.

I set up my spinning wheel at the Black Swan Farm display, and she had TWO angora rabbits for me to choose from.

Miss Priss:

And her son, Be Bop:

Be Bop had LOTS of fur, so I got to work on him. Lots of kids came to the display, and helped pluck his fur. By the end of the day, most of the fur on his back was thinned down. Now, his sides and belly need some work.

I ended up spinning two bobbins of angora yarn, then plied them together to make a nice thick yarn. I gave it to the owner of the farm, and she gave me two nice bars of handmade soap. I also have some more angora fiber to spin, so it was a good day.

I had lots of fun. SO many people were at the fair, and I think that every single one of them came to see me spin. People asked the same questions over and over again, and I replied with the same answers.

At about 2:00, a strong rainstorm suddenly came on, so I had to pack up and head home. She said that she could use me again tomorrow if the weather isn’t bad. I’ll have to wait and see how I feel.

Right now, I’m aching all over from all the bending and twisting and walking and lifting and tugging and spinning. I took 3 ibuprofen when I came home, and took a long nap.

Tonight, my hubby and I went to dinner at a local fish camp, then spent some time at Barnes & Noble. It was so nice to look at knitting magazines and drink a Mint Mocha Frappucino. Yum!

When I got home tonight, I received an email from my Mom. She sent me a photo of her garden fairy statue, with the butterfly lit up from the solar receptor!

Those rabbits are too cute. DH said I couldn’t have a dog that sheds so that probably leaves out rabbits too!! Hope you are feeling okay from all of that spinning!

It’s more like both. When I first came to this page, I didn’t see the video. Like, it hadn’t finished loading yet. So I just saw the pic of Sandy with the rabbit. Thanks though.

Oh I love those cute, funny bunnies! That sounds really fun, Sandy!

It was fun, and a lot of work. But I’m sure I’ll be doing it again one day.

I took it easy on Sunday - my hubby and I stayed home ALL DAY. We never even walked outside. We watched Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi back to back. In the middle of the second movie, we ordered pizza.

When we finished watching those movies, we put in The 10th Kingdom, and watched most of the first disc. There are 3 discs for that movie…it’s 8 hours long! My hubby had never seen that movie before, so he’s really enjoying it. I’m loving it too. Such a fun show to watch. It’s all about fairy tales, and how things turned out after “happily ever after”. Fun.

So, our Sunday was wonderful and relaxing. Yesterday, I taught a few piano lessons, and when I got home, we had grilled pork chops, baked sweet potatoes, green beans, and deviled eggs. We watched the rest of the first disc of The 10th Kingdom when my hubby finished his usual Monday night TV shows. We started watching the 2nd disc as well, but my hubby fell asleep. So, I switched it off, woke him up, gave him his cholesterol medicine, and we went to sleep.

I actually stayed up for a little while longer, knitting on an Oddball Shawl. :teehee:

Today, I’ll be teaching more lessons, and maybe going by Michaels to see if they have any 99 cent yarn left. I think the “big reveal” for their spring yarn will be very soon.

What cute rabbits. We have a rabbit for garden fertilizer. It works great and the whole family just love to watch him jump around in the yard when we let him out for exercise. His name is Pepper’s and he is a lovie  I’m surprised that the Angora hair doesn’t bother your allergies. Good for you!

I don’t have a problem with the angora fiber, but I DO have a problem with the actual rabbits. I am careful to take my allergy medicine on the days I spin rabbits.

I can’t believe it! I’m actually going to the beach this weekend.
The reason I’m so surprised is that I haven’t gone to the beach in about 20 years. The last time I went was when my boys were very young. (They are 24 and 21 now)

I’m not a big fan of the beach. I sunburn VERY easily, and don’t enjoy sitting in the sun at ALL. I really tried to enjoy it when I was a teenager, because all my friends wanted to do it. But, it just wasn’t my thing.

And now, my body is not pretty in a swimsuit. :teehee:

My happiest memories of the beach are of walking on the pier or surf at night. No need to worry about sunburn then! My parents used to take us when we were young, and we would spend a lot of our time fishing. That was fun, but my sister and I usually ended up in the arcade, playing pinball and skeeball.

These days, I never go. But, this past week, my hubby asked if I would like to go along when he goes to gamble on a casino boat this weekend. I’m not a gambler, but if he is asking me to spend time with him, I’m gonna cooperate. I mean, he won’t be on the boat the entire time. We’ll be able to have dinner out, and stay in the hotel together at night. And, we can take a walk on the beach together. cloud9

I haven’t decided if I want to go on the casino boat or not…I might just wait at the hotel. I’m afraid they might not let me take my knitting on the boat. I’m checking on that today. Also, I’m worried that there may be smoking all over the place, and I don’t want my knitting to smell of cigarettes. :pout:

If I stay at the hotel, I’ll be able to use my little computer to browse the internet, and I can knit and watch TV to my heart’s content. Also, they have a nice lobby if I want a change of scenery. My hubby would only be gone on the boat for about 5 hours, so it’s not that long.

The other reason I don’t really want to get on the boat is that I’m worried about all the weather we’ve been having. I just don’t know if I could handle riding out a storm on a boat like that. :help:

I sure do sound paranoid, don’t I?

I think I’d skip the boat, too. Having a few hours away from each other isn’t a bad thing and then you’ll enjoying being together all the more. Sounds like fun!

I thought they were banning smoking in some casinos? I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to find something else there to do if you choose not to go on the boat. I’ve never been to the beach, but I can only imagine what all there is to do.

Yeah, I’m definitely going to stay at the hotel. I’ve made up my mind completely today.

Jenelle, I don’t think a smoking ban applies on the casino boat, since it will be in international waters.

I’m looking forward to when my hubby gets back from the boat on Sunday afternoon.

Today was my piano students’ Spring Recital. They all did a wonderful job!

I’m teaching 22 students right now (including 4 adults), and 12 of them were able to attend. It was nice having two of my adult students there today.

Here’s the only photo I got where I was standing with them. Unfortunately most everyone has a goofy expression. And you can see that I’m exhausted! I wore myself out getting everything ready for the recital today.

I’m REALLY looking forward to going to the beach to relax tomorrow.

My hubby and I had a wonderful day at the beach!

Here’s a photo of the beach when we got there. This photo was taken at Cherry Grove Pier, near North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

And here we are!

That is beautiful! You guys look so cute!

I agree Jan!

Thanks!
We were definitely happy that day. It was just gorgeous out there.

We were walking on the surf and came across some sea birds hopping in the surf ahead of us. They were digging in the sand with their beaks to look for food. They were adorable! :inlove:

We followed the birds for a while. I think I could have done that for hours.

But, since I get sunburned so easily, we had to get back in the car. :pout:

We’ll go back again one day, when we have some super duper extra strong sunblock all over us!

Sandy! You went to Myrtle Beach? Lucky you! I’m actually going for the first time for 4th of July. I’ll be at Royal Palms/Kingston Plantation for 4 days. I can’t wait. It’s on the beach, and there is a pool and splash park. We have a 2BR condo with full kitchen etc., so we can do this on a budget and eat in a lot. I’m so pshyched, I’m definitely due for another vacation. I havne’t been to the beach here, so I can’t wait!!
