Shandeh is a Bernat Blogger Now!

I’m very happy!!! We got it for a GREAT price, so I’m sure there are some little things wrong with it. But, all I care about is that it gets my dishes clean. So far, so good!

Did I tell you guys I finished my Sockintines Socks?

We have had an electric dishwasher since I was at least 5 (except for a couple of places I lived with my ex), and my dad has always hand-washed the dishes my mom doesn’t put in the dishwasher.

He doesn’t feel up to washing them now, so Mom has been showing me what washing dishes has been doing to her nails.

Sandy–that’s more great news!! We only got one about 3 years ago–years too late to help me when the kids were here and dishes really wanted to mount up, espeially when I was sick. But I SO enjoy mine! I’ve never liked standing in front of a sink alone when everyone else is enjoying their tv shows or reading. I know my daughter hated it as well!! Now–and I should have asked him to do it when we were young too-- my husband rinses his dishes off in very hot water to get all the grease off and puts them in the drainer or the dishwasher after he eats. It helps me so much, and dishes don’t tend to pile up as they used to. I’m so glad you didn’t have to wait til you were as old as I am to get your dishwashe–but ENJOY! I like cooking even more since I have mine, and my sink is always free!!YAY! I wouldn’t go back to a “quieter time” when there were no washers, dryers and dishwashers . :cheering:

Functional dryer. A dishwasher. Whatever will you do with your time? :teehee:

she will knit and meet up with all her wonderful kh friends!! :shifty:

What she said! :teehee:

Ginger, I told Mom that I will pick up that poncho to finish the neckline in a couple days. Then, she can finally look just like Martha Stewart.

May the road rise up to meet you. So watch your step, sistah.

Will you do me the enormous favor of taking your digital camera with you? I’d like an up close and clear photo of the Amish cross stitch I made for her. And a shot of her wearing the redesigned poncho as well. Please?

Sure…what are sister’s for anyway? :muah:

It depends on the sister… :teehee:

Congratulations on the dishwasher~~! :cheering:

Hi Sandy:

I need to get caught up. I haven’t visited in the last two weeks because I have been making jewelry and selling it on ebay. I haven’t even picked up knitting needles in over a week-and-a-half ~ even I can’t believe it. I’m babysitting my nephew Danny this evening while his big brother is at his cub scout meeting, so I’ll take some knitting with me tonight. It will be good to pick up my needles again!

That’s great about your dryer! Yay!!! It must have been an awful inconvenience to have to go to the laundromat all the time to wash and dry clothes.

It looks like you and lestrella had a really nice time ~ that’s great.

Hope you’re having a great day and I’ll check in sometime over the weekend. Take care. :muah:

Hey Susan! :muah: I’ve been wondering where the heck you’ve been. :waving:

Lestrella and I had a great time meeting. She’s such a smart, beautiful person. I think she could do just about anything she sets her mind on.

I saw Lissalue again today too! She came to Cottage Yarn and had me see what I could do to help with her socks. I don’t know if I helped or not. The only thing I knew how to do was rip them back a few rows and put the needles back in. Good luck, Melissa!!!

She brought her baby and DH again. That sweet baby is just ADORABLE!!! :inlove: She was stealing the heart of everyone who came in the door. She looked like the model baby for Debbie Bliss yarn with those big eyes and sweet dimples.

I did my best to help Melissa get out the door quickly this time so they would be able to eat lunch today before they had to head back home.

I had fun “working” at the yarn shop today. I don’t think you can really call it work though. I looked at yarn and patterns, knit for over an hour, and wound skeins of gorgeous yarn. Does that sound like work to you? :teehee:

After “work”, I went to teach piano lessons to three students who live near the shop. Up until now, I’ve been teaching them at my church on Thursdays. But since they live near the yarn shop, I figure it makes sense to teach them when I’m in their area.

I now have 14 piano students, all scattered throughout the week. 4 on Mondays in my hometown, 1 on Tuesdays at a piano studio in Charlotte, 5 on Wednesdays in a nearby town, 1 on Thursdays at my church before choir rehearsal, and 3 on Fridays near the yarn shop after I finish “working”. My Saturdays are completely open, so I still have a free day (unless I’m playing for a wedding). Sundays are busy with church in the morning, but I usually nap all afternoon, unless Marvin has plans for us to do something.

It’s not a bad schedule, actually. My mornings are always free. Lessons start at about 3 in the afternoon, because that’s when most of my students are home from school. Mondays are really easy, because my lessons are all about 5 minutes from my house. Tuesdays are WONDERFUL days, because I can go yarn shopping and music store shopping, or just spend the whole day at home knitting until time for my one lesson in Charlotte. Wednesdays and Thursdays are my busiest days. (Wednesdays because of the quantity of lessons - Thursdays because of choir rehearsals) And I don’t mind Fridays at all, because I get to “work” in a yarn shop!!!

I would venture to say I have one of the best jobs in the world.

Hey Sandy–you do have a great job!!

Did you check out Andrea’s Birthday surprise on her blog?? AWESOME!! :cheering:

you are the bestest sandy! before i decided to take a day off from the socks, i got almost halfway through heel flap one, so you must have done a wonderful job fixing them!! thanks for the wonderful compliments on my baby. Gos has truly blessed my family! and now He has blessed me with another wonderful friend as well! :muah:

Hello, my KH friends! :muah:

I stayed up late last night, knitting a prayer shawl. When I looked at the clock, it was 3 AM!! I freaked out, because I had to be at church early this morning for our monthly communion service. So, I crashed in bed with Marvin, setting the alarm for 7:50 AM.

I jumped out of bed at 8:10 AM, had to skip breakfast because I overslept, made it to church, rehearsed with the soloist for the communion service, then played through until communion was served.
(I joked to Marvin that my breakfast was a little lump of bread and a sip of grape juice.) :teehee:

I didn’t get any rest before the regular service, because I had to rehearse with ANOTHER soloist for that service. So, I was organizing music, practicing piano, practicing organ, making copies for page turning purposes, and talking to the choir director about the service music.

During the service, when I completed all my organ and piano work, I sat on my little bench, and pulled out a bag of M&Ms leftover from when Marvin and I went to the movies last night. (We went to see “Night at the Museum.” Fun!) So, during the sermon, I ate M&Ms and worked on a small knitting project I brought along. (a headband from some of my handspun yarn.)

When the service was over, and the last note of my postlude finished echoing around the sanctuary, I looked over at Marvin and smiled. I was ready to collapse. Then, I felt a little tiny hand tapping my back. Anne Marie had a little candy flower for me for Valentine’s Day. (She’s the little girl I taught to knit. She’s so CUTE!)

I hugged Anne Marie, and told her thank you, then grabbed Marvin’s hand to help me out of the organ pit. He was such a sweetie - he had closed the grand piano for me, and put the fabric cover on it. I just love that man.

After church, we came home to change clothes, then went to look at a refrigerator one of his co-workers is offering for sale to us. It’s VERY NICE, and the price is AMAZING!! I can’t wait to get that fridge in our house. Ours is on its last leg, and theirs is SO COOL, with all the bells and whistles. (Anything is better than what we have right now. It’s a VERY simple fridge with no ice maker or anything.)

We left their house with the measurements of the fridge in Marvin’s pocket, then took our happy selves to Cracker Barrel for lunch. YUM!!

After eating, we browsed in the store, and Marvin asked if I wanted anything. I chose the CUTEST garden decoration. (I don’t have a garden.) It’s a smiling mushroom!!! I’m going to keep it sitting at our back door, to greet anyone who enters there. Every time I look at that mushroom, I just HAVE to smile! It stands about 2 feet tall, and it’s just adorable! (It was only 20 bucks too.)

Needless to say, I was SO SLEEPY when we left Cracker Barrel. Marvin wanted to go to one of his favorite comic book stores, so I slept in the car while he looked in there. Then, he had to go to Lowe’s. I told him that I would come inside, but I would be moving slow. My knee was REALLY starting to hurt. So, we stopped just inside the entrance to see if they had a motorized chair for me to ride in. They had 3 of them, but none of them worked. :wall: Weird. :?? And there were 3 people working at the customer service desk, but they didn’t offer to help at all.

I just told Marvin to go on and get what he needed, and I would stay at the front, looking at the paint section. My knee got worse and worse, so I had to have a seat at one of the job applicant computers. When Marvin got to me, I was in tears from the pain. :pout:

So, he helped me to the curb at the front of the store, then drove up to get me. We went straight home after that, and I had to lay down.

That’s what I get for overdoing it, I guess. :verysad:

I took some pain medication, and watched the “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” DVD. I’m feeling better now, after resting for a few hours. We just had some shrimp and fettucini alfredo for dinner, and now I’m finally checking up in here. It sure does seem quiet in here today.

 poor thing! i hope your knee gets better! you take it as easy as you can tomorrow! :muah:

Hope your knee feels better Sandy. I’ve been busy working on my jewelry to get some more posted on ebay this week. I have to take a jewelry supply run to downtown LA tomorrow to the bead shops. I love browsing the shops; it’s hard not to spend too much money there. It’s worse for me than going to a yarn shop! I love it though! :cheering:

Have a good day tomorrow Sandy and I hope you wake up without any knee pain. I’ll check in tomorrow afternoon or evening.

See ya! :muah:

Thank you Melissa and Susan! :muah:

I just took a photo of the smiling mushroom to show you guys. Can you see why I couldn’t resist it? I just LOVE the way it has its hands on its hips! Marvin says I do that all the time when I’m telling him what to do. He constantly imitates me, with his hands stuck up just under his arms, and a high nasal voice. :roflhard:

Like Melissa has requested, I plan on taking it easy today to make up for torturing my knee yesterday. I have some piano lessons this afternoon, but they are all near my home, so it shouldn’t be bad.

Susan, what is your ebay profile name? I want to see that jewelry!

There are about 8 UFOs in my craft room, so I think I’ll get to work on them. One is a BEAUTIFUL sweater jacket that I started over a year ago. I MUST finish that, because I really need it, and the color is perfect for me.

I’m also working on a prayer shawl, a cotton washcloth, the second sock yarn wristwarmer, my Noro Kureyon bag, a small headband from my handspun yarn, a soft scarf, and a baby afghan that will not be finished in time for our get-together this weekend. :pout: Oh well, I’ll just keep it and turn it in later, or send it to another charity.

There are some other things I need to be making right now too. My mother has requested that I make some slipper socks like I made for my grandma. She said that several ladies at the retirement home have asked for some. She wants me to sell them, but I would prefer to just give them away. (My mother is ALWAYS wanting me to make money with my knitting.) I would feel bad taking money from those poor old people. :pout:

My mother also asked me to make something to send to a co-worker’s son who is stationed in Iraq. I told her that I like to make socks, and there is a knitting charity called “Socks for Soldiers” that I want to make socks for. (She wanted me to charge them money for making them.) Like I said before… :?

Well, I’m off to the craft room now! :happydance:

Hi Sandy:

That is quite the smiling mushroom! That’s cute that it reminds Marvin of you!

My ebay profile name is “sue3192”. I have one charm bracelet, a necklace, my Barbie doll, and a few other things I’m trying to get rid of up right now. My SIL just sold her Barbie dolls for $499.99 last night! It’s amazing what people will pay for something.

I’m going to downtown LA this morning to get more beads and things I need for my jewelry. I have another bracelet that is almost finished and I will be putting that up for auction sometime today. I’ve sold four bracelets, two necklaces, and one pin in the last 2 weeks, so that’s fantastic. I now have another outlet for my creativity, not just the cute little shop here where I sell things too.

I hope you have a great day Sandy. I’ll check in with you later today after my “excursion” downtown. :muah:

You’ve done very well with your ebay! I like the Barbie scuba gear you have listed. So cute!

Isn’t it fun and exciting to make money on ebay?
