Shale stitch - dropped stitches

Hi, I am knitting a blanket to this pattern

using shale stitch (k2tog X4, kfb X8, k2tog X4). Does anyone have tips on picking up dropped stitches that go into the first row of the pattern? I can’t work out how to and it’s time consuming to unpick the rows!

Thank you!

Can you drop down and pick up the two sts for the k2tog or the single stitch for the kfb? It takes patience but it’s better than ripping out or unpicking rows.
Here’s a video that may help for the k2tog. A crochet hook certainly helps.

The same for repairing a missed kfb using a crochet hook.

The best thing is to catch these mistakes as soon as possible. Counting sts helps and markers between the sections of the blanket (the k2tog x4 and the kfb x8 sections) makes the counting easier and makes the missing sts stand out.

A lifeline is a good idea with this kind of pattern where it’s not so easy to correct mistakes.

It’s a gorgeous stitch pattern and blanket!

Hello, thank you for your advice! I tried to rescue it but ended up with 1 stitch less than I should have had, so had to unpick it all anyway! I am planning to try a lifeline as my needles have holes for them.

Oh, groan. I feel for you. Yes, definitely lifelines in multiple places. Markers too if you can separate repeats.
I’m always on the lookout for missing yarn overs because they are easy to pick up on the next row.
