Shades of summer dress

I am now on page 4 of the shades of summer dress pattern (found on revelry)
It says…
Rnd. A work increase round as in existing pattern ???

There are TWO increase rounds in the pattern PRIOR to this point…I am at the top in a SEED stitch…BUT the ORIGINAL increase round is a kfb and knit all the way across row…
I am stymied. Do I knit all the way across or do I INCREASE as in raglan increase with seed stitch??

If anyone has made this and was stumped…please help…

Thanks in advance…

I only see ONE increase round (The Raglan Increase Rnd).

Rounds 6 & 8 are just examples of the Raglan Increase Round NOT some second pattern. (At least that’s my take on it)

Rnd A = Raglan increase
Rnd B = You need to work each section (1= sleeve, 2= body or back, 3= sleeve, 4= back or body) as directed. The sleeves change pattern (purl), the back/body continue in seed st.

Repeat A and B as directed.

You want to increase on each side of the markers as before for the raglan increases.
The direction is on p2, col 2 toward the top.

"Essentially, you increase into a stitch before and after each stitch marker. Number of stitches is increased by 8."
What a sweet dress! I’ve added it to my queue.

I wasn’t sure if I should keep the seed stitch pattern…???

On the photo it doesn’t look like they got out of the seed stitch…If I do a all knit round it will change the pattern…

That is my concern…

SALMONAC…what do you think?

You should stay in seed stitch.

“Work increase round (Raglan increases) as in existing pattern (seed stitch)”

While you wait for salmonmac to have a chance to respond…

Markers divide the bodice into four sections. Two of
the sections are going to form armholes (sections 1
and 3), and the other two are going to be front and
back of the bodice (sections 2 and 4).

Rnd A: Work increase round as in existing pattern.
Rnd B: (from the beginning of the rnd):
Section 1: purl
Section 2: work in established seed stitch
Section 3: purl
Section 4: work in established seed stitch

You’re working the 4 sections in separate patterns. Sections 1 & 3, the armholes, are purled and Sections 2 & 4 are in seed stitch. This prepares for the BO for the armholes.

Next round:
Section 1: bind off purlwise
Section 2: work in established seed stitch
Section 3: bind off purlwise
Section 4: work in established seed stitch

That’s what I’m reading FWIW.

This is a pretty clearly written pattern in general but there’s a little room here for interpretation. I’m not sure which size you’re doing but the first time you do Rnd A, do seed stitch then follow the repeats given for Rnd B (seed st on the back and front and purl the armholes). I agree with RK and GG. Thats all according to the pattern.
When you repeat Rnd A, you could either follow the pattern and seed stitch the whole round, even the armhole or echo the initial rows (neckline) and knit the armhole sections. The second alternative makes the trim at the armhole match the trim at the neck. Se depending on how often you have to repeat Rnds A and B, you would alternate knit and purl at the armhole only for a garter stitch trim. Probably not a lot of difference in the look of the finished edge.

Such a beautiful dress. I gonna knit it.
I hope you share some pictures.

Sometimes…some patterns give me trouble…:frowning: but I am so thankful that there are people like ALL OF YOU who have responded here with your feedback. I think I have HEAD FREEZE sometimes!!!

Here is the progress on the Shades of Summer dress…I am doing the bottom skirt section with Fibonacci number sequence (for rows/colors)

So perfect! The colors are just the shades of summer that we need to see right now. It’s going to be a lovely dress.

Very pretty. This will be a darling dress when it’s done.
