I have increased the width of a set in sleeve, but did not increase the width of the body with an accompanying increased depth of armscye. I wonder when it is best to dec those st as I begin the cap of the sleeve. I am following pattern for Guston. Should I dec more with the beginning bind off say 6 instead of 5 at the beg of first two rows. I have 6 maybe 8 extra st and am working with the largest size.
I am reading info online about this at:
Jen Arnall-Culliford is quite experienced and the article looks very nice and informative. It gives you a logical way to proceed with shaping the sleeve cap.
Since it’s only 6-8sts, I would increase the number of sts at the bind off on each side and then also add in a few more decreases spaced more frequently at the sleeve cap. It’s worth going through the article’s calculations just to see how that compares.
Thank you, salmonmac. I was pretty sure what I wanted to do is inc the bo on the initial rows, but wasn’t sure how much to do there and how much to ease into the next rows of the armscye. I like your confirmation. Yes, the article is well-informed–I just
wanted a quick and dirty way to ease in the fullness–as well as understanding the structure. Again, thank you for your input!
