Self-striping sock yarn

Before I go off half-cocked and start buying sock yarn that I know zip, zero, nada about, I thought I would ask the experts what they consider to be their favorite self-striping sock yarn.

I’m not much of an expert on knitting socks but I like Opal self striping sock yarn.

Thank you, Catz! I’ll go look for it.

I’ve used Online striping sock yarns, and I like them

Thank you. I’ll go check it out!

I like regia for stripes. It is not a “luxurious” yarn, but it has a zillion different colors/patterns and is pretty inexpensive. It also washes and dries wonderfully.

i dont really know, but i like Mark & Kattens Clowns Sock Yarn in colorway 1722.

I’m just starting to get into socks, but I am using Trekking XXL and I like it.

Is this a wool sock yarn? or is it acrylic? cotton? I am allergic to wool but would love to get some really nice sock yarn. Where did you get it from? TIA.

I’m using Regia for my first pair – it was recommended by my LYS owner because it’s not too stretchy. It’s 75% superwash wool and 25% polymid. (I don’t know what polymid is). But I did another 4 rounds today and will work more of my first socks tomorrow. The colors are great, by Kaffe Fassett. I’m using colorway “mirage”.

Wow!!! Thanks everybody for your input. Now I’ve got a few selections to choose from. :woohoo:
